LEV Testing is the examination of Fume and Dust Extraction Systems in accordance with COSHH Regulation 9.
It is your responsibility as an employer to ensure the welfare of your employees. COSHH Regulation 9 states that every employer who provides any LEV to meet the Regulations shall ensure "it is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order, in good repair and in a clean condition". HSG258 stipulates the procedures for which this requirement should be undertaken. The frequency of the tests should be annually but no more than 14 monthly and some processes are more frequent. It states that the examination and test should be carried out by a competent person or contractor.
